Why are so many people defending Peyton Manning after he obviously choked… Again?
For over a decade now, I have watched the most fundamental sound quarterback I have seen continue to fail time and time again in the playoffs. While you might place some of the blame on the defense or the kicker, the truth of the matter is that this team has won at least 12 games a season in their last 7 season with only one Super Bowl to show for it. That one Super Bowl came over the Bears who did not even have the offensive fire power to compete with a block of ice. By the way, Peyton’s stats through the four playoff games that year, 3 TDs, 7 interceptions. I have watched it season after season, Peyton Manning storming through the regular season throwing 30 plus touchdowns and single digit interceptions. Yet, when he enters the playoffs, at times, he looks no better than Rex Grossman. Whenever the game has bee on the line, when ever it has come down to a clutch situation in the playoffs, he falters, ends up taking sacks, fumbling, or throwing a pick. The one exception was the 06-07 AFC Championship game. Honestly, I think he is a damn good quarterback, but when it comes to the playoffs, he chokes. Plain and simple. He chokes. I have read tons of Colts fans today claiming it was only one bad throw and the defense did not show up. First, let’s lay to rest that the defense did not show up. Yes, the Saints did score on every possession in the second half, but the defense did not give up the big play, and held the Saints to just 6 points in the first half. In addition, the gave up fewer total yards than the Saints defense did. So, that puts that argument to rest. Next, "he only threw one bad pass." I am sorry, but if you believe that, you did not happen to see the start of the drive when his first pass was a quick out that was nearly picked. Whew! Dodged a bullet there, Manning! Whoops! Spoke too soon, for no more than a few plays later, he predetermined that Wayne was going to be open on the slant in a man-to-man situation when his pass was jumped and picked by the corner which dropped in a zone; an obvious mistake that Manning would not make in the regular season. Just for kicks, how about the Colts final drive when Manning was nearly picked in the endzone and might HAVE been picked had the receiver not interfered on the play. The next couple throws that followed were just atrocious. True, the Saints were playing the pass all the way on that last drive, but are you seriously going to tell me Manning has not dealt with such a situation in the regular season? Let’s face it. Manning choked again! I am only left to wonder why most Colts’ fans continue to blind their eyes to this fact?
i live in indiana and i am a patriots fan… ya idk how that makes any sense…..
but anyway… im around colts fans 24/7… they are ignorant. end of story…. honestly they put him on such a high pedestal, because he is one of the 4 players that they actually know… colts fans do not watch games… they dont understand football… and they dont understand that peyton (and the colts) have continued to play poor in the playoffs.
fun fact…. peyton is .500 in the playoffs…. realllllllll sweet record…
also, peyton did not play a good game in generall… that one pass did not change the fact that the shining star on the offense was joseph addai. they scored 17 points… really guys…. you gotta put points on the board. (for your own team)

I didn’t read it all but I agree, I’m so sick of people treating him like he is God or something.
Peyton Manning sucks | Feb 08, 2010
why are so many people hating on Manning when he tried?
Congrats Saints(Panthers fan) | Feb 08, 2010
Im not hating on him…I think hes a great QB (nothing against him…but I think Tom Brady is better than Peyton)

Not a fan of either team. But as a bystander with no clear reason to hate Peyton, he is a great QB. He didn’t choke. Steve Young said that it was on the receiver to not let the CB make the play. Porter made a great play on that ball and deserves credit. He knew what was coming. He reacted to it. Peyton didn’t have any other choice really. He was under heavy pressure and just kind of threw it to an "open" receiver.
And as a die-hard Michigan fan, even I’m going to say that Peyton is better than Brady. Before this year, I wouldn’t have said that. But now, I think it’s pretty obvious. Pats fans are kidding themselves if they think otherwise.

anyone who says these players choke has never been or never will be an athlete. things are moving way faster than if you are sitting on your couch with a bag of chips and a beer.
I have NEVER seen someone who has truly played the game of football talk about a player choking. and anyone who claims to is a liar.

Dude….why don’t you just get a blog…
this is a dumb question, being you answered it yourself. you ask "why do they continue to defend him" then go on to say about how good he is, but ‘chokes’ in playoffs. obviously people would defend because he is good, then.
to answer below me: the colts ‘fans’ you are talking about are just the average people who watch TV and hear about how great Peyton is all the time, and know nothing else of the team or football in general. you have to be kidding me if you base all colts fans after those. have some common sense. Honestley, I live in Indiana and I like the colts, but they talk about him all the time, I think the news knows it gets people hyped it because they have pride in how good he is, and they don’t have much else to say.

I didnt read that whole thing, but Peyton played really well, Saints played better Defense, The interception was all his fault, His player was open and the Saint player read that play and jumped right in front of the colt player, It was good Defense, and wasnt Peyton’s fault, so lets stop hating
