Have a question about "heaven"?
A recent death in our family has led me questioning alot of things. Not the death itself, but things that have arisen now that she has passed has put us all in a state of shock and personally left me wondering some things.
Please forgive me for my complete ignorance. I have never read the bible, never been to church. I did belive in a higher power, and from time to time have prayed in desperate times, but now i dont know.
My questions is, How can heaven be real when heaven to one person could be "hell" to another? Heaven is supposed to be one big place right? That if were allowed in, its just "One". Whoever goes to heaven is going to the same heaven right? So say my "heaven" is to be with my fiance, kids, dogs, friends, ect. But my fiances idea of heaven is to be around anyone but me? So that would make one of us not in our "ideal heaven". Than what?
This question has made me completely drop the idea that their is something after life. I now just feel like we are like robots, just set to be here for our time, than our organs stop, and we die. Like sleep. Black. Nothing. Gone. I am terrified of dying, and i hate that i now feel this way. But with this question being unanswered, i dont know what else to think.

thats exactly what im thinking!!!! Eternal happiness? How can someone be happy all the time? I dont want to be re-wired into a happy state! I want to be able to have feelings, to be able to think for my own. I appreciate "god" trying to ensure happiness, but thats very scary! Reminds me of the Stepford Wives.
There is a bizarre consensus among a certain Christian division. . . They think your mind will be rewired by Dog, so you’ll be in a perpetual state of happiness, regardless of what heaven is. It sounds like some kind of Zombieland nightmare, but I guess you wouldn’t notice the weirdness when you’re a zombie. Wonderful, huh?

hell is graves….PARADISE WONT BE HELL to anyone who enters it…it is way above this human plane …we will be immortal…it is too complex for this post…consider repenting.
Fireball | Feb 02, 2010
The answer is simple, you will not think like this in heaven.

There are many answers to life that are left unfulfilled.
There is no one person to explain exactly what you should believe, and that is what the point of religion is. Do your own research, read, do a lot of thinking at night, do a little bit of talking to those around you. Visit some religious places, talk to some people who’ve gone through it before, because trust me, you’re not the only one who’s wondering.
There are no answers, only more questions. That, unfortunately, is the state of life.

Someone put it this way, and it really put things in perspective for me… They asked, do you remember how it felt before you were born? Of course, we all have to answer ‘no’. So why can’t death be just like that? It makes total sense.
We are not privileged to know what happens after death even though every mythology makes up something to appease us. (People who ‘come back’ after 5 or 15 minutes were not fully dead, OBVIOUSLY). So rather than buy into the myths, why not simply recognize returning to the same state of non-life we had before birth will be okay — not painful, not heavenly, not judgment time, not spooky — just okay, because that’s the way it has to be.

And when you get a coin from the tooth fairy how do you feel when your friend got a fiver for the same thing. Or inflation’s impact ;hell what could a kid possibly get for a quarter now a days . It used to buy a candy bar. If they can’t do any better maybe they should just give it up . that goes even all the more for Heaven.

When you die you go to where ever you think you belong Heaven, Hell, Cloud 9, the VOID, until you realize that it’s static and/or repetitive and just another illusion. It will fade away and you will meet with a more enlightened version of your self (Oversoul?) Who goes over your life with you. Together you discuss what you did right and what you did wrong (in working towards becoming more enlightened ) Together you discuss if you need another life or three and if so how you wish to proceed on your path, who or what you need to be to learn the lessons you still need to learn. Together you pick your next body and where it will come into being. If you choose you can take some R&R first in the higher plains of existence though.
Until you are ready everyone in "Heaven" will be alien to you. But when you have ascended everyone in The afterlife will be YOU.

I’m sorry that you lost a loved one.
But you need to think of you now. You need to be saved!
The truth about death is that death brings IMMEDIATE heaven or hell, depending ONLY on whether you believed in Jesus for salvation, or not. There is no second chance to be saved, after death.
Heaven is eternal joy with the Lord!
The lake of fire is eternal torment. Nobody has to be sent to the lake of fire.
So to be in heaven and not in hell, believe in Jesus for salvation RIGHT NOW!
Jesus is God, and Jesus loves you so very much!
The truth about Jesus is that the only way to be saved and to get into heaven and avoid being sent to eternal hell, is by believing in Jesus for salvation, believing in faith alone that Jesus, who is God, died on the cross for all our sins as FULL PAYMENT for all our sins, and then Jesus rose from the dead (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). Believe in Jesus alone for salvation, and you will be in heaven, no matter what!
Salvation is a FREE GIFT that happens in a split second when you believe in Jesus alone to save you! It is impossible to lose or "leave" salvation (John 6:39-40, John 10:28, 1 John 5:13).
Please pray now: "Jesus, I believe that You died on the cross to pay for my sins and that You rose from the dead, and I thank You for eternal life!" You will be in heaven with Him forever when you die! ![]()

I think that perhaps the greeks give us the best idea of "heaven". They state that when a person that has lived a just life dies they go back to the happiest moment of their life and live it over and over sort of like a happy Groundhogs Day ( I hope you have seen the movie I am talking about ) without the person every knowing that they are living the same moment again and again. Their belief is not that we all go to heaven and are rejoined by our loved ones but that "god" lets us have what we need to be happy….that one perfect happy moment for the rest of eternity.

You’re absolutely right. Thats why heaven cant be real. Praising some dictator in some church atmosphere for eternity is my idea of hell. And even if i went to Heaven and it was exactly my idea of paradise i doubt i would be able to live there for eternity. It would get old. But you are lucky you were not brainwashed into an empty promise of heaven like so many others. Now you can live your life knowing this is it and realize Earth is the paradise so many seek. Sorry for your loss.

I do not think there is a heaven. Basically it doesn’t make sense to me…
If we retain our individuality, then yes, one persons heaven is another ones hell. However, if they strip away our individuality, then "one" version can make everyone happy. Yet at the same time, since I have lost what defines me as me, I have died. (In a sense.)
I too have struggled with the fear of death for years. However as I get older, I find it less and less troublesome. It is useful to me to think of it as never being born. I do not fear the ‘unknown’ because I in a sense think I know what it is like.
I do not have ANY emotion to the time period before I was born, so I expect I will not have any emotion once I have died. Yes the transition may be scary and painful, and I am not looking forward to that. But death itself, seems to me would be rather ‘peaceful’. Like a dreamless sleep of eternity.
I take comfort in knowing the chances of ME this specific configuration of life is a vanishingly small possibility of happening. So I am trying to enjoy my life, while I have the opportunity. I also take comfort in knowing, that the only reason I can fear my death so, is that I am a ‘higher’ form of intelligence, and so I can ponder the wonders of it all, and dread it too.
Suffice it to say, it is getting easier for me every day. I hope it will for you as well.

God made man for the earth and the earth for man. So says the Bible. That being true, the earth is nothing like God intended it to be when he first created it—-because Adam disobeyed God before he ever had any children–he changed his perfect nature into one of sin. Because Adam sinned, we are all conceived and born into sin with only the promise of death ahead of us (the Bible hell is the common grave–not a place of torment as some teach). Jesus Christ was in heaven with his Father, Jehovah (Psalm 83:18) when all this took place and he loved mankind so much that he volunteered to leave his favored place in heaven and become human. By doing so, he became a perfect human and he is the only hope we have to replace Adam as our forefather (the Bible calls him the second Adam). You have a wonderful hope which you can only find in the pages of the Bible and by asking God for help to understand it all. By doing this, you will no longer be afraid and concerned with these worries.

heaven is too contrasted for us to understand. the bible even says this in the new testament. the bible does however promise no pain, suffering or hurt in heaven. in my opinion, heaven will not be a place capable of that which you said. we’re talking about heaven, a place where God dwells. we are not talking about willinilly rooms and you walk in a room you thought would be nice and was really shitty. This is heaven…and God we are talking about. he invented happiness. he is happiness. he is perfect, he is creator of all things, i would imagine he would be capable of anything assuming his existence. dont look at it from a human perspective because everything about us will be renewed when in heaven. this is why it is so hard understanding it.

You might be trying to have a too literal interpretation of heaven and hell, like a paradise in the sky or a hole in the ground. I’d just forget about that for now.
You might want to read about near death experiences. Even if it is really all black void after, people who are dying report at the very least hallucinations of loved ones who have already died coming to take them to a beautiful place. When it happens to you, you will be OK with it. But maybe it’s not hallucination. When dying people see relatives they do not know have died before, maybe that means those relatives are really there.

The thing that boggles me about the afterlife is defining the person. I know what I am this instant, and I know it is not the same as I was 20 or even 10 years ago. How do we define the self… which self becomes eternal?

I have thought about everything you just said. i’ll give you some advice.
Not everyone gets into heaven. You Must Believe in god Have Faith always, god will test you ”it could be you losing your job, or something little .” If something like that does happen |pray| ”God I still have faith in you no matter what and i know you’ll make things right.” Let god know your Alive That your here on earth. When you take god as your lord and savior death will not be a fear for you.God wants us to pray, god protects us from satan and demons, he makes you see clearly too everything.
People say ”There is no God, if there was, God would have done something for me”
that’s not true at all. God gives us plenty of opportunity’s to Have our sins forgiven. When you finally understand the bible you will now that God Takes Every Bad Thing and Moves it out of the way.

I don’t think heaven is another place you go and just have a perfect life like the ultimate holiday resort. I think it’s a state you attain where you come into that oneness.

Heaven and hell exists. My grandmother passed away a few years ago, and she was a very kindhearted person. Tears streamed down my face when I heard what she was seeing moments before she died. She described a huge tunnel and a beautiful light that was extremely fascinating, and she said she was feeling SO peaceful. Some people may think this is ridiculous, but I hope you don’t realize that Jesus is Our Lord too late. Our physical body is temporary, our soul is not. I pray to all of you.

wow thats so crazy.
bcuz i honestly think the same way u do. lol
in my opinion i think heaven is wat individuals beleive it is & thats where theyll go when they pass.
i dont go to church or havent read the bible either.
but i dont think theres one heaven that everyone goes to it seems like it wouldnt be any different then living on earth.
it would be just as big right? how would u even know u died.?
& wat if thats the point?
lol
& i dont beleive in hell either tho. i dont think that "god" would want someone to suffer for ever.
but some people think that the lives they are living now is hell?.
lol i seriously dont know wat to think.
its not that i dont believe in god, its just there so many opinions out there,
its like whose wrong & whose right?
hahaha ugh who knows right?

Clearly, in order for Heaven to work and be a perfect paradise, either it would have to be a warped and deceptive place where everyone experiences a different reality, or God would have to alter everyone’s mind so that everyone wants the same thing (of course then you wouldn’t be you anymore).
heathenfidel | Feb 02, 2010
pleas dont feel that are obliged to turn religion for false hope- you clearly are an intelligent person who can reason rather than a blind follower
when i was a kid my auntie died and all i ever felt was sadness- it was the first time i had ever experienced a loss of a family member. it was an important life lesson though, it taught me to cherish the memories that i had with her and accept that death is an inevatable part of life
have you ever seen the lion king? well there is an important song about life and death called the circle of life that teaches us that we must make our own meaning in life before we die
Wirr | Feb 02, 2010
You need to understand; heaven is not what YOU make it, heaven is what God says it is. God says that heaven is the place where He abides. If we don’t know God personally, we are not allowed in. Heaven is God’s home, and He will not let people who are sinful into His perfect place.
You are right when you say that heaven to one person could be hell to another. There are a lot of folks who think God is an arrogant dictator, and they don’t want to live with Him. To them, heaven would be hell. So God allows them to live apart from Him, in hell, the place prepared for the devil and his angels, who also considered heaven to be ‘hell’ for them, because they did not want to serve the creator. The problem is, God created hell as a terrible place of punishment for Satan, because he rebelled against God and tried to usurp God’s authority. It was never meant for man.
If you think ‘heaven’ is to be with your fiance, kids, dogs etc, then you are thinking strictly in earthly terms. Heaven is not like earth at all. It is a different realm. The things of this life will not matter there. We are not married in heaven. We are not even sure if animals exist in heaven. Our bodies and spirits are changed, and we become like God- perfect, and sinless. Our priorities change, our desires will be different, our values will be different. Heaven is about God, not about what you want.
But there is only one way to get into heaven- God requires we believe that Jesus is Lord, and that He sacrificed His life to pay for our way into heaven. If we don’t believe that, and we don’t obey God’s command to change our minds about who Jesus is- (that is, Lord of all, and not just a good teacher), we have insulted God, and we will not be allowed into heaven. He will say that He never knew us. It sounds cold and heartless, but it really isn’t. Jesus IS God. He has the right to set the rules. If He wants us to acknowledge that it really was Him, God in the flesh, who came to earth, then that’s what has to be done. No amount of arguing will change it.
You didn’t create yourself. Nor did you create heaven and earth. So you can’t expect to create the heaven for yourself that you desire after you die. We must realize that we have to answer to our Creator, and HE calls the shots after we die. It’s better to be ready, than meet Him unprepared.

i believe the bible says you wont recognize each other in heaven, your soul passes to heaven which is not your physical body but your spirit. People are judged by their soul not by their looks or possessions, your soul goes up everything else stays down.
this is my own personal belief and i don’t know how it corresponds with the bible but i think souls that aren’t righteous are continually re-born into the earth, so in a sense this is ”hell”. Think about it, even the most spoiled rich people have horrible things constantly happening to them in life and no one can avoid death or the death of a loved on. Everyone goes through very hard times in life and no one gets a free pass on that, this is all a test.
if a demon can possess someones body and be cast out only by the word of god to me thats the biggest proof the devil and god both exist.
im sorry for your loss but they are much happier upstairs and don’t have to suffer with the rest of us (down here)
be happy

a former friend died last monday and a friends cat that lived 22 years..so were they went i dont know
sorry for the spelling errors but if there are more thyan 15-20 this thing will not check them for you
as a hindu i believe in 24 levals of heaven. on the 4th dimention you can rome the earth ,hopfully helping people and not buging them to much.on each assending dimention you are allowed to be there the [ holyer ] you are you go up to the next plane.on the higher planes you dont need a phisical form you are just your soul.
seeing that i havent died latly this is hear say but its more believable than a [ one heaven ] that fits all. or one hell that fits all
im so glad there is a hell so that my evil adopted mother can have a resting place, that evil thing.
_________________________-
suposedly on the highest leveal there is the [ void ] were you just hang out and dont have to do much.
heaven in hinduism is deturmend by karma. if you were a good person you get that reward if you were a holy person you get that reward. its deturmend by your actions and desires
so iv been praying for my former friend to go to the highest heaven his karma alows him to go to and i pray that he can even go higher
my friends cat was pritty wise at 22 years and i pray that he dosnt have to reencarnate and can go strait to the aria he can enjoy or if he chouses he can again rencarnate as a human this time .
___________________________
in a meditation i was in the [ void ] but i dont want to go there any time soon it was rather boring being [ no-thing] so im with you im still a bit freaked out about the things i hide from
